Part one of a set of two manuals for the Practice of Meditation, written by me with the help of two of my best friends, Dr Vandrike Vincausen, AKA ~loreshaper-kethal, and Barbara Baptista, whis does not has a dA account.
This has the basics to attept meditation. Tecniques on how to do it discretly at home, advanced tecniques and such will be featured on the following manual.

i meditate since 1-2 years now, and what you describe are good basis.
instead of incence, you can also use essential oils to apply on yourself. at the beginning they were quite helpful for me (we ofen underevaluate the sense of smell).
you can try drug stores, natural/bio shops and internet of course
