Callister Rayns: Life of an Android

[EUReKA Alternative Univerce with guest characters....somehow, I have this freak head cannon in which Nathan and Tony Stark are cousins. In this AU, Nathan Stark is still married with Alison Blake, while Carter is still dating Tes. Anyhow, this is based on that headcannon. Nobody reads this, anyways.]

Since his reactivation, Callister was trying to lead a normal life. He had atempted getting his old job back at Global Dynamics, but due to a paperwork issue concearning his new identity, particularly his age, Callister ended up automatic signed up at the local highschool, Tesla School. He asked his maker Nathan to lend him the guest's room - desision happily supported by Alison's son, Kevin - and started volunteering at Eureka's firedepartment, apart from having gotten a part time job at Henry's garage, being now a member of the comunity. It was at the end of the summer, before his classes started, and Callister was spending all his time at Henry's, hoping to manage to stay as less possible at home. Despite everything, he still resented Nathan for having expelled him on the firstplace, despite understanding his motives, and as such, he was trying to became self sustainable, earning enought cash to rent a long term room over at the former Barlow's Bed and Breakfast, now known as the Tesla's Bed and Breakfast as Nikolai, Maria and their daughter Aina Tesla moved there. While Nikolai pursued his passion for magnetic fields and energy research at seccion 4 in Global Dynamics, his wife and daughter kept the bed and breakfast running, taking in the occasional guests.

Sadly, he wasen't succeeding at his goal.

"CALLISTER! DID YOU RESTOCKED THE LIQUID NITROGEN?" Henry yelled from the insides of the lab.
"YEAH!" He yelled back as a custom car parked in front of the garage. Callister quickly whipped his hands in a rag and rushed to greet the person who had parked.
"Hey....can I help you?" He asked, nervously as he saw the blond girl inside comming out.
"Well, yeah. This old piece of junk is eating up more oil than gas already. Anything that can be done?" She asked. Callister raised his hand.
"I'll have to ask Henry on it. He's the expert, I'm just learning the ropes..." He answered nervously.
"Well, I hope you manage to fix-BOOM!" The blond girl didn't got the chanse to finish her phrase as the large explosion tossed her and Callister though the air, spreading a shower of debris all over the place.
"Are you alright?" Calister asked and the blue eyed, blond beauty under him.
"Y-yeah.........but you're hurt!" she whispered, looking at his shoulder, where a large wooden splinter had lodged itself. He looked at it and grunted in pain.
"I have to see Henry....he might've..." Callister started, then saw the scientist leaving the ruins of the garage laughting.
"Callister, you should've seen it...Callister?" Henry asked, seeing the blond's panicked look "What is it?"
"N....nothing." He answered, getting up and helping the girl up "May I take the day off?"
"uh....I'd tell you to take the week off instead. This'll....take a while...." The scientist motioned at the destroyed garage?
"Callister, right?" The girl asked, looking at his name on his blue overalls
"I'll take you home. Or to a doctor...." Callister nodded, half dizzy and followed her into her car, leaving Henry to call GD.
"What's your name?" He asked her.
"Aina. Aina Tesla. And I'm taking you to my place....you need to have that checked out."

The first thing that crossed Callister's mind was panic. He was going to face all those troubles again. Then he remembered about his 'special case ID', and how that cleared him of trouble....but the Teslas wouldn't know how to repair his wound and would make things worst.
"I...can't." He started. She cut him off brisky.
"You must. Your shoulder is getting worst and the best person to fix that is my dad."
"Your dad? I thought he dealt with energy research and magnetic containment fields..."
"He also deals in robotics, Callister. We Teslas like working in dozens of angles. Becides....Callister? Cal? Stay with me....stay with me..." she yelled as the blond passed out.

A few hours later, he opened his eyes, realizing that he was laying in a bed, and that his wounds had been taken care off. He was alone and, as soon as he atempted to sit up, realized that he was in his shorts.Softly the door of the room opened and a blond lady came in with a tray with food.
"Oh, you're awaken. How are you feeling?" She asked, looking at him as she sat down the tray in the table.
"I feel.....weird. My arm hurts a little and I'm dizzy, but otherwise alright." he answered. The woman smiled.
"I'll call my husband and tell him, so he can take care of that. Also, my daugher says thanks. She's downstairs. Meanwhile, here....something for you to regain your strenght."
She gave him the food and left, leaving him to eat it and inspect his injuries.

Wasen't too long untill someone knocked at the door.
"Come in." He replied, only to see Aina going in and smiling.
"Callister....my mother told me that you're awaken.....does it hurts?" she motioned at his forearm, which was covered in a thin silver mesh which seemed to be partialy fused with his skin under a large wound which they originaly didn't noticed.
"....No, I don't feel it......it's.....weird."
Aina smiled lightly at his awkwardness.
"It's okay, you don't need to feel awkward. You're not the only android in this house."

Callister looked surprised at her, seeing that she had removed a silver bracer from her arm, reveiling her delicate nanotube muscules and her wiering which emanated a soft glow. In the middle of her arm was a small box, looking like it was a crude and grusome addition to the otherwise delicate and fascinating structure.
"Y...you're an android too!" He realized, seeing her smiling.
"Yes. It's nice to know I'm not the only one in the world. Although my body is breaking down, one system at a time. This little box is what's keeping me alive." She said, looking at him. Callister took her other hand lightly.
"I'll ask my maker if there's anything that he can do." Callister started. Aina smiled lightly.
"Actually....I think you might be the one that can help me. I know you used to be one of GD's top codding analists, and dad says it's a codding issue...."
"Well......it's been a long time, but....if your father can get me a computer... I could....well...get over your code to see what's wrong." He replied shyly, yet smiling.
Aina's eyes glowed as she nodded.
"Callister....."
"Please call me Cal." He smiles.
"Like the Moto GP rider?"
"Yeah. Like the rider."
"Aina, can you come an help your mother with this?" A male, heavy accented voice called. Callister tryed to place the accent....serbian, perhaps?
"Go....you're mom needs you." He ended up by says as he smiled. Aina nodded and left, leaving the door open. Her father, Nikolai, came in slowly.
"Callister Rayns.....or should I call you Callister Stark?" He asked, comming to a halt next to his bed.
Callister grunted lightly
"Just Callister.....or Cal."
"....How are you feeling, Cal? Any pain or alert anywhere?" Nikolai asked, examining the silver mesh.
"I'm not sure about how does your shell records damage."
"No....it doesn't hurts.....It's numb, though."
"That's normal. I overloaded it to make it numb.....I wasen't going to access your programming withought your permition."
".......thank you, but you could've done that. I have nothing to hide." He whispered "ugh....it's starting to hurt."

Nikolai took a can of a spray and applied it, then bandaged the area.
"It'll stop hurting soon. Now.....Callister, I think my daughter told you about her problem, right?" Cal nodded "Think you could analyze her programming and find out what's wrong?"
"I already told her that I would."
"I actually know what's wrong. But you're the only one who can actually encode it, as it's a bit so complex that honestly, no one else would be able to." Nikolai whispered, looking out the window "You saved her life once......"
"Dr Tesla.....you don't need to try to convince me. I'll help in whatever I can."
Tesla smiled
"Very well, we'll start working tommorrow. Right now I'm sending a message to your father so he doesen't gets worried."
"He won't...." Calister started, but Tesla cut him off.
"Your father was constantly worried when you were gone. And when your systems stopped working, he grieved like he had lost a son of flesh and blood. He spent years trying to bring you back. Your father may not look like it, but he loves you, Callister. He's just too....stiff to show you." He said harshly ".......you shouldn't doubt him."Callister smiled lightly.
"You know him well?"
"We grew up toguether. Actually......your father made me promise I'd take care of you if something happened to him. Which happened a few years after."
"What?"
"You know he split with Alyson, right? Well...they were going to remarry, and he...basicly sacrificed himself to save the world."

Callister went withought words.

"He reappeared a few years later. The sherif had already married Tess by then. Alyson was so happy..."
"So, I missed my father's death and rise from the grave.....great."
"Calister. You have the chanse to start again. To have a family, to be a normal teenager. Don't tell me that you never wished this." Nikolai asked the blond android in a harsher tone. Callister looked down. "I thought so. Now, Callister, your father just texted me saying that you're free to stay here untill you're feeling better. So, I'd recomend you to eat your food and sleep. Judging by the specs Nathan sent me, your system's regenerative abilities spike when you are asleep, so.....since you're getting external power.....plus the food....." Nikolai seemed to lose himself in thoughts as he left the room.

Callister just turned in bed, falling in the deepest sleep he ever was, becides his own death. If he had awakened during the night, he would've seen Aina staring at him, as she often did not slept as a side effect of her condition.

In the next morning, Calister found Aina in the balcony, and the house deserted.
"Good Morning, Aina...." He started, then looked at the landscape: Usualy a breathtaking green scenario, now there was a sort of aprehensive aura arround it as dark, menacing clouds seemed to emerge from the glittering rooftops of Global Dynamics.
"Calister.......I think....that our parents are in trouble."
